What we do:

At the PREVENT Institute for Resilience and Security, we prioritize five main pillars:

  • Research: Conducting evidence-based research to understand and strengthen community resilience, social cohesion, justice, and to combat national and international risks and threats.
  • Education and Training: Providing training programs to equip individuals and institutions with the skills and knowledge needed for social resilience,
  • Collaboration: Partnering with local communities and stakeholders across sectors to implement social resilience, justice, security, energy and environment activities and programs.
  • Policy Development: Contribute to data-driven policies and strategies to improve security and resilience practices.
  • Community engagement and capacity building: Engaging with communities to raise awareness, foster dialogue and build mutual trust, while also supporting capacity building efforts to strengthen resilience at individual, institutional and community levels.

Skender Perteshi

Executive Director

Skender Perteshi is a recognized expert in the field of security and rule of law, with extensive experience in research and advocacy on issues related to threats and risks facing countries and communities. With a distinguished career in the security sector in Kosovo and beyond, he has contributed to many projects and initiatives aimed at strengthening institutional capacities and promoting resilience in the region. He has participated in various international trainings and conferences, gaining deep knowledge and advanced skills in the field of security and the rule of law. Before establishing the Institute for Security and Resilience - PREVENT, Skenderi held various positions as a researcher and leaders in important local and international organizations and institutions. He has led specialized teams in the development and implementation of strategies for crisis management, the fight against terrorism, and the promotion of social cohesion.

Andi Batusha

Director of Programs

Andi Batusha is one of the founders of the PREVENT institute and currently serves as Director of Programs. With extensive experience in development policy making, Andi has a distinguished background spanning the civil society and institutional sectors. Andi has played a key role in establishing and leading NGO networks for seven years, making a significant contribution to the democratization efforts in Kosovo. His commitment to development issues is further evidenced by his engagement as Senior Development Assistance Officer in the Office of the Prime Minister, where he served for over two years. Also, Andi has held the position of Senior Employment Officer in the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kosovo for 1.5 years. In these roles, he successfully managed and realized projects within the framework of the IPA instrument, EU programs and led bilateral development cooperation with various agencies and embassies operating in Kosovo. Andy's diverse experience adds significant value to the institute. His ability to divide engagement between strategic planning and timeline/project management is a critical asset to the PREVENT Institute.

Besarta Zeka

Research Assistant

Besarta Zeka was born and raised in the Netherlands. She completed her studies at the Faculty of Security and Defense Management in The Hague, Netherlands. During the study process, Besa has been part of various initiatives and research projects in the fields of security, prevention and combating terrorism and national security. As part of her studies, Besa will do a six-month research internship at the Institute for Security and Resilience - PREVENT, where she will engage in research and advocacy projects for security and the rule of law. Besa has decided that during her research internship in Kosovo, in addition to being involved in the PREVENT Institute, she will learn more about Kosovo, its culture and history.
